We have a new band and EP to announce !

The welsh duo Mandy to release it’s debut EP “Cross country rollerskating” on March 5, 2014 (tbc)

MANDY is Andy Fung and Melanie Fung. They spend all their time writing and making music & art. They live in Cardiff and sometimes they take all the furniture out on the street and film really good musicians having a JAM. Cross Country Roller-Skating is a 5 track debut EP. They are recording the first album “Universe” now !

For those of you who didn’t know. In 2009 Mel also released her debut single Hey Julie by another duo of hers The MeMeMe’s on the label.

Liner notes by Mel below:

1. Tracy put your knife down
I wrote Tracy first when my best friend woke up at the hospital and a fellow patient we will call her ‘Tracy’ (for that was her name) was standing over her bed with a knife.

2. They fuck you up
Then I wrote Fuck you up when I was asked to write something for a literary/music performance evening under the subject MOTHER I borrowed the famous line from a Philip Larkin poem right at the end ‘They fuck you up your mum and dad – they might not mean to but they do.’ We performed it at Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff.

3. and 4. Back to Eugene’s / George and Lornas Secret Romance

Lorna and Eugene I just sang to Andy in the car when we were going surfing a lot.

5. I like talking
I like Talking was written over a summer of festivals in my mind it’s a love song.

Aside

In 2002 we released our first release with Kira and the kindred spirits and the album Happiness saves lives to a massive attention. Since 2004/5 we have been in a dispute with two danish labels claiming to have the rights to the album and it’s music? – First it was Copenhagen Records and later Mermaid Records/Sony Music Denmark. Both senarious managed by highly renowned producer and a/r Nikolaj Foss with decades of hits on the charts on EMI. Today, again, we received a statement from Soundcloud claiming us to be copyright infringers by having Kira’s “Save Me” on our profile.

It’s a long story with enormous technical justice and we won’t state who’s right or wrong here, but the original agreement is still on our hands and since the case never been brought to justice, in court, we are still the copyright owners and not the infringer. We have stated this information to Soundcloud and they have agreed to proceed as usual and we are again free to distribute the music.

Currently both labels, us and them, are releasing the exact same album. Please support us by clicking the right link when buying the album. We could of course go to court but currently we prefer not too, even though there are a lotta money involved. We all have our reasons.

Here follows two links to the album:

Please note; due to agreement we are not allowed to distribute the album outside Scandinavia.
